Any tricks to getting the cover plate nails to stay tight in Marine Band Harmonicas?

Thanks

when the covers are off, snap just the tip of a cocktail stick in the hole then the nails will hold better after you put the covers back on.

I used to put a little bend in the nail, if the situation wasn't too bad.

+1 on what Jimbo said. That sounds like a nifty little trick Mark :)

Replacing with screws is worth the effort, which is minimal. Also, you get to easily service the harp from then on AND happily throw away the nails.

There are many smart reasons to go with Carl's method...the least not being is, that if you find yourself in a pinch - for ex: the corner of your house begins caving in - you have some really good screws available to quickly get the situation under control. Sure these top quality screws are a little more of an investment - but in the long run you will get your monies worth...they have definitely outlasted all the harps I have used them in - and I'm talking Hohner Harps - which seem to last forever :)
