It's taken me some time for the news to sink in that the Hohner Special 20 has changed its cover plates.
I could never get used to the wooden comb of the Marine Band 1896 so resorted to the softies recessed reed plate comfort of Lee Oskar and sp20s and all the time that the SP20 cover plate carried the Marine Band engraving I felt that I was somehow a real Blues Man linked to the greats like Little Walter, Sonny Terry, Rice Miller et al.
This bombshell piece of news has given me a serious dose of the blues ; please, please Hohner rethink your momentous decision.

Just buy from your local music store. If it's anything like mine they are still selling stock from sometime in the paleolithic era.

There are still a lot of the old SP20s in stock, and as the new "Progressive" SP20s start to ship, retailers may even discount the older model.

One question: does anyone know if the new ones come with the zippered case like the MBD/XO/Rocket, instead of a plastic box?

As far as the question/exclamation is concerned: real blues harp players shouldn't worry about whats stamped on the cover plate... and no one else sees it anyway.

Nevertheless, it will be sad not to see the little accordian playing cartoon Honher logo.
