I play GM's but have a set of LO minors which are useful.
I find the edge of the cover plat corner bit can rub and abrase the inside of lips/mouth..very annoying

Anyone got this? Maybe I should file them down?

I have discovered that Seydel coverplates will fit Lee Oscars. The Session Steel coverplate is full length so you dont have that corner problem. Rockin Ron's sells coverplates separately.

Sp20's and 1896's have the same problem where the metal is folded, I file/sand/polish that area on my customs.

I had that problem with my special 20's - I used JB weld to build a little "ramp" in that area. I eventually switched to full length plates. Then I had to get used to that edge "as a guide" being 1 hole over.

chromaticblues suggested to me to put MS Blues Harp covers on LOs. I tried it and it improves the sound a bit too I believe.

"chromaticblues suggeted to me to put MS Blues Harp covers on LOs. I tried it and it improves the sound a bit too I believe."

See, THIS is why I still love checking in on this forum every day! I've had a couple of Lee Oskars for years now, and I've never really liked playing them because their covers are so crappy. For the life of me, I'll never understand why they decided to make the hole numbers protrude so far! It makes them awful-feeling to play. But anyways, it turns out that I've also had a couple of sets of MS Blue Harp covers sitting in my parts bin (also for a couple of years), and yet I had never thought to try to put the two together!!! I had to expand the coverplate holes backwards a bit on the Blues Harp covers to get them to line up properly with the front of the Lee Oskars, but that literally took 2 seconds with a rat-tail jewelers files. Low and behold, not only do the covers fit and make playing the Lee Oskars much much much more comfortable, they are louder and have a more mellow tone to boot! Fixed three things with one check in at MBH this morning! Thanks Mark!!!

Feeling inspired by the coverplate updates, I just recorded this little ditty with my Bb Harmonic Minor LO. Enjoy!

and for more S&G's, here's another track, this time from the other LO I revamped with BH covers (an "Am" Natural Minor).
