OK, hard question coming up. I'm currently driving two EVM 12" speakers quite successfully, but I'm not getting the break-up I would like. Don't get me wrong, these speakers sound great but I feel like they need too much to drive them. They are rated at 300w and I can never pump that much energy into them from my 20w valve head. So this brings me to my question. I have done quite a bit of research on 8" and 10" speakers and cabinets to suit and I think what I want is 2x8" or 2x10" and I'm thinking Jensen C8R x 2 or Eminence Lil Buddy 10" x 2. I can buy a cabinet for 2 x 10" but nothing for 2 x 8". Also, I can't try before I buy, so has anyone got a setup similar to what I'm looking at doing and does it do all you want?

2xEVM 12L's, WOW. Talk about sterel. You must play a Strat also. Mesa amp maybe?? Yes my friend, you are right, those are not harp speakers! Go with 2x10's. 2 Lil Buddies might be dark. I like a big ceramic mag speaker for bottom and a lighter cone/mag speaker for the highs. My present favorite combo is a Ragin Cajun and a Copperhead. Use a big 30% open back cab. All subjective of cores but I get a lot of compliments on tone using this cab regardless of what tube head is driving it!...BN

Thanks for your response Barley. I have decided to run with buying two 12" Cannabis Rex and fit them into my existing cabs which are very good quality and are already vented. We'll see how I go.
