Hi,

I had an Joyo analog delay (great sound!), but it died on me. There is no point to send it to the doc for repair because is so cheap that the cost of repair is almost the cost of a new one.

So, a guy in my country sell this DIY delay pedal kit, and the price is a little more than a new joyo/behringer delay
This is the schematics:
http://cabezacuadrada.cl/attachment.php?id_attachment=24

It is a clon of the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay:
http://www.mpamp.com/factory-pedals/deep-blue-delay-factory-pedal/
"Deep Blue Delay is a natural sounding digital/analog delay, with analog direct signal path. The Deep Blue Delay has about the same bandwidth as the classic tape echo units, and it can be used in front of an amplifier or in amplifier effects loops."

I am going to build that pedal, and I wanted to ask you guy if there is a way to "mod" it for harp. Since I am goig to build it from scratch, I guess that I can replace some components in the process to get a better pedal for me.

What would you do?

Larger coupling caps?
5meg input?
a LW chip?
A KW chip?

Rz, how much is the Joyo in your country (chile?)?
I use the LW pedal and I like it...had it for 6 years or so. It's the only effect I always keep on hand...these days I mainly use an amp with built in reverb. But delay is cool.
I see the joyo for £39. That is about half a LW pedal I think, maybe 40% even...but the LW is...well, no complaints from me.
I got no idea for modding the DIY pedal...DIY is often expensive but it's self-education. You build it, you learn how it works, you rebuild it, you get a better idea, you realise finally that you are working with junk, you save up for better materials, but better tools, lose sight of your original purpose, turn around and find you have a houseful of unnecessary gear and you've lost your family...

SuperBee,

I can get the joyo used for $40, the same amount of money of an used behringer delay-

The LW delay would cost me arround $200. That is more money that I want to spend in a delay right now.

The kit cost $55 w/case, so is a litle more expensive than the joyo.

It is a fun proyect, so I am going to build it, maybe it will sound right the firs time.

Q: If I wan to increase the input to 5meg, I need to replace the part that says "1m" for a "5m" one right?

If you liked the sound of your Joyo, chances are you'll like the sound of this delay pedal. It sounds as if it is already tuned for a warm sound, being that it emulates a tape echo, and really, if you're not using crystal mics, then there's no need to up the input impedance. Chances are that as long as you do a clean build, you will like the sound of this pedal. A bit of a warning though, projects like this can be addictive, and branch out into many more projects!
