I used to ignorantly tweak on these things as a kid. Swap a tube, good as new. I never figured out how to cure station drift, tho. Constantly had to twist the dial. Always beautiful well crafted furniture back then.
My first 120 volt shock came from a Hallicrafters radio. There would be many shocks to follow. I think I liked it. It may explain my calm demeanor today.

A friend/customer has an RCA Victor similar to this that unfortunitly was a victim of hurricane sandy as the bay water rose to 41 inches inside his house.Well the good thing was that the electronics were high enough to escape injury and after around a yr later we plugged it in and believe it or not it sounds like a jewel, theres nothing like the old tube radio sound. The cabinet itself actually remained in pretty good shape aside from a small amount of delamination.I love the antenna box on the Zenith, classic.

Love those old radios. Back in 1968 when I turned 16 I got a 53 Dodge for $ 40.
Best part of that car was the great tube radio and the big backseat

If the cabinet is in good enough shape for your needs , how's the front look ? and you have a place for it ..
Go for it ! .. Very cool piece for $100
