I've got an amp that is ugly as hell, was inexpensive, and sounds better than MANY of the far more expensive, elusive 'harp' amps I have chased over the years... I'll snap a pic tomorrow to show... Does anyone have a Butt ugly but sounds great harp amp story?

$10 garage sale 3 watt el cheapo amp. Great sounding amp. Use it for practice and duos with my buddy Joel.

I don't know have butt ugly amps stories, but people always say I'm butt ugly and some even say my harp playing sounds great. Does that count?

A yardsale find for 20$. 1969 Sears/Silvertone 1422/40XL. The last of the Silvertone tube amps. Original combo came w/ a 12 speaker , a prior owner had brutally hacked it into a head w/ a handsaw. It had a fried resistor and needed a 3 prong cord. It screams through an 8" speaker

Here's an embed for you Silvertone...

My vote? I honestly think the new Fender Pawn Shop Vaporizer looks like it got beat with the ugly stick. But I tried one out not long ago, and for a PCB EL84 amp, it sounds really friggin' good for harp! Most folks are modding these Pawn Shop amps right off the bat as soon as they get them. But I wouldn't change anything if I bought a Vaporizer, save maybe for better tubes or speakers.

Ugliest or most beautiful lol? Lee McBee's 55 Bassman is the best amp I've played through aside from my Harpking.

Joe,
That is BA-beautiful!
Being '55 it's a twin 5u4 rectifier?
Man, I sorely regret selling my late '54 twin 5y3 rectifier bassman.

'59 Sano HiFi 30W, 15" Utah PA15R alnico. Model 30. Bought it at a flee market along with the matching reverb slave amp for $130.00. All trannies were blown. Replaced trannies with salvage organ iron. Recaped and freshened, circuit not modded. RCA 6L6's. This thing sounds awesome and is definatly a harp sleeper. Sanos ROCK.

Tweedaddict, I'm pretty sure Sano was its own animal. No rebrands I'm aware of. The little Sano-ette amp was nearly an exact copy of the Kalamazoo Model Two circuit.
