Adam posted this in "blues is black music". This video deserves its own post. It was buried amongst 17 in the earlier post. I want people to hear it if they haven't. I listened to it last night for the first time. The song starts at 1:52 if you don't want to listen to his repartee with the audience, though it's worth hearing.

A man and his guitar, nothing else. What a bluesy voice! What a bluesy guitar!

His guitar playing brings to mind Guitar Slim's "The Things That I Used to Do". In the end though, it's his voice that touches me, in fact enthralls me. In this performance, I see no posing, no showboating. Just sincere, raw emotion showing in every expression on his face; sounding every minute of the song.

I solemnly promise to talk about harmonica next time I post, be it tomorrow or a year from now.

Cheers,

My favorite blues guitarist, fun trying to steal some of his licks.Louisiana what diversity.Tony Joe White great La. Bluesman played decent harp in the rack, hypnotic listening to.

Many years ago played in some country rock bands, did a Waylon Jennings version of a Tony Joe White song Whatever happened to the blues, those guys had big time mojo,or just plain old country soul.Yea listen to Tab.

On the night train video you can get a good look at that beat up vintage fender he's playing it like a strativarius. My fender loving guitar friend says those are very hard to find, but serious scratch might get you one,tab keeps it tuned.

My g,f. turned me on to Tab. She's a huge fan. Saw him last month and it was a great show. I,too, think he has a great bluesy voice and his guitar playing was always melodic and interesting. You could tell he was passionate about his playing and it drew me in. On a harp related note,Johnny Sansone often plays with him in Louisiana.

Got to see Tab around Texas a couple of times and he's so good. To me Tab is a true folk hero. His cause aside from playing and touring is Voice of the Wetlands, which came about as he has watched his homelands being ruined by industry.

When I have seen him live- much like in this video- I have had that feeling. Like we just had supper and we're sitting on the porch and the instruments come out. He has a quality to him that puts you so at ease.

One show was at Blue Cat Blues in Dallas, which has been gone now some years. During his show, which kicked off with about an hour and a half set- Kenny Neal and brothers and crew showed up and between the Benoits and the Neals, we got one of the best live shows I EVER saw any place.

You owe it to yourself to see Tab live if ever you get the chance.
