Okay, we've been having some recurring problems with people having access problems. I know some of it is the blacklists the servers maintain, and in those cases we've gotten people whitelisted, but it's happening frequently enough, and with the lag between emailing me, then me passing it on to support, support getting back to me, and me getting back to you, at each step, it can take a while.

I know there have been some workarounds- Google DNS? Dynamic IP addresses? Just using a different network, short-term? (And of course just waiting to get whitelisted, if that's the problem).

So, for people who have succeeded, how did you do it? I'm going to put the collective wisdom together so I can share it when we get the next S.O.S. email.

Thanks,
Nate

Can´t say I have access problems anymore -- as you know I did have -- but quite a few of my post disappear.

Not any bigger hill of beans, but I really can´t understand why.

Nate i know nothing about computers..and how the Internet works..I mean Zilch.
I have Google set up as my home page(via internet explorer) and have never had a problem with access to the site.
As an aside i never have a problem with my posts either.(apart from the content^)

Just thought i'd let you know that some of us simpletons never seem to have a problem.

Your homepage shouldn't effect it. Here is my, probably flawed, understanding of how it works. You have a IP address, which is like your local street address on the web, but you also have a more general address, a DNS?, that is where your provider routes your information through. It's sort of like a zip code. It's great to know that you live on Western Avenue, but you need the zip code (postal code for anyone not in the U.S.) to end up on the 'right' Western Avenue. (That's an oversimplification, but I think it's the general gist).

Now, since none of us are spammers, our hypothetical address, #1 Western Avenue, in the town of Happyland, doesn't get on the spammer list. The problem is, the guy next door at #3 is, and the guy at #7 and #8. Eventually, the server that hosts MBH decides that you must live in a bad neighborhood (despite the fact that there are 30 houses on the street and only three of them are spammers) so the server decides it's not going to accept any letters from Happyland.

So, to get put on the white list, they have to find out not just that you live on Western Ave, but #1 Western Ave in Happyland.

The workarounds are, to continue the metaphor, to get everything routed through a better zip code (using the Google DNS) or to use a zip code that updates constantly change your zip code every so often so that you don't get lumped in with your neighbors.

Of course, just because your neighbor is a spammer doesn't mean it's anything you did wrong, but once your on the list it's a pain to get you onto the white list, as the guys who have gone through it will attest.
