I remember when you took too long to post or typed the code wrong your text didn't disappear into oblivion. Why can't we just be asked to enter another code without losing text? Other places on the internet work that way...

I know about Control A, Control C, but sometimes I forget to copy my novel before I try to post it, and I lose a well thought out and well edited entry, and that greatly frustrates me!!!

Can't we configure the forum to not delete entries when the code entry fails???!!!

What browser are you using? I'm using Firefox 9 on a Mac and I don't lose my text when I get the CAPTCHA code error.

If you use Google chrome, this doesn't happen either. If you're using Explorer or Safari, that's typical.

I just tested it with the latest version of Firefox and I lost it all.

I use Chrome, and if the captcha has timed out and it asks me to solve another one and I solve the other one without back-paging, I lose the post, but, if I back page first, I see my text.

And there is a hotkey, at least in Chrome, which I can't think of right now- shoot- that will let you retrieve whatever you lost. Shoot, what was that hotkey!

(I'll post back when I remember/find the link)

Any time I have a long one to post, I type it into my word document, then copy/paste. If it gets lost from the forum, I still have it to copy/paste again.

Gene, even if you use cut, it should be saved, but there are other advantages to composing in Word. I find on long posts sometimes if I make changes pasting it over into Word (or OpenOffice in my case) lets you look at more of it at one time than these post boxes.

There is a plugin called Lazarus that I used to use, but there is a shortcut too that you don't need a plugin for, but I can't find the link.

If you just accidentally delete something, control Z will retrieve it, but it doesn't seem to work if you've moved on to the next page.

I think it's impossible to solve, I suppose, the same way as it's impossible to make this site accessable from Russia (I have to use google proxy to access). Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+C rules.

I think you are right, Boris. I will just have to use some self discipline, and before posting make a habit of Control A, Control C.

Thanks, everyone.

This particular feature/bug bothers me greatly. I've lost many posts--including some long ones. Now I just copy them before I post.

Sorry, everybody.
