I bought a Bassman RI. First one I have owned. The handle is different than the ones I have seen. It is a smaller leather handle held on by two flat bent brackets. Is this a replacement handle ? Wonder why it is different. The guy I bought it from said it had been in storage for a long time. There is no serial number on the back plate. It says Made in Brea Ca. It sounds good but couldnt turn it up last night.

Replacements are readily avail. Without seeing a pic, I cant't say if it's original. Sounds like someone replaced it with a dog bone style handle?

If you want to know the age of the amp, there's a two letter date code on the tube chart inside the cab.

This is my first Bassman,so I have a lot to learn. I found some numbers on the chrome panel above the label that says "fuse". AA00126. Maybe these are the serial numbers, there are none on the back chrome plate like on a Deville. I will look into it on the internet. Thanks Harpaholic.

That handle sounds like it belongs on the early versions of the Pro Junior/Blues Junior and the place that does sell replacement handles for 4-10 Bassmans is Antique Electronic Supply

Thanks Bob. Looks like its a early 90 model of June. 126th made that year. Handle is stock. I lucked out. In mint shape, plays well though havent turned it up high yet. Has the blue frame Alnicos. The tubes dont have any Labeling on them and they arent burnt.I bought it from a guy that worked at Fender back then. He didnt say much except it hadnt been played much and was in storage for a long time.
