You tube has several vids on how to make your own stomp box or Cajon. I made one simple out of a wood cigar box... check it out.....

@ arnenym I built a kick drum out of a old tweed covered wooden suite case and it works PERFECT!
There are a few bugs that have to be worked out, but it very possible and NO none of the vids on you tube describe how to do it right!
I built a few and thought I was doing it wrong or had the wrong kind suite case. They ALL rattle and sound like home made P.O.S.
One thing I did get from one of the vids that is very important is if you make a suite case kick drum buy a Pinky rubber ball and replace the beater with it!
It makes a world of difference.
The other thing is most of the vids show how versitile it is because you can carry stuff in it then use it for a drum.
Scratch that idea right from the start!
Fill the suite case losely with couch throw pillows and spray touch-N-foam expanding sealant all along the edge of the bottom half where the two halves butt together. Latch it and let it dry. The next day cut the stuff that expanded out. That part was a pain in the butt. Just take your time and get as much as you can without cutting the suite case.
Mine looks 60 years old cool and sounds just as good as any kick drum!
I advise getting an older wooden one. A lot of the vids advise getting plastic cases from the 60's-70's.
The old wooden kind sound better, but ONLY with the Pinky ball.
Also buy the biggest one you can!
