Am amazed at how little tab is useful when you don't know the rhythm (don't know the tune). I have forgotten a lot of those old straight harp chestnuts and usually it is too much trouble to find notation (not that I can read it fluently anyway) or listen to it on YouTube or somewhere.

The other thing that strikes me is that the top 100 is essentially comprised of memory lane oldies. That the majority of searches indicate a severe lack of sophistication. Maybe this shows that JP and similar have a lucrative market? And also the above vid demonstrates, most anything can be made better.

As for Puff. I asked Paul Stookey about the allusion to drugs. He said it was all untrue, never thought of drugs while writing it. He preferred to keep it a kids tune. Nice guy, by the way.

Performance where myth is debunked by writer

I have loved this song since I was young. It has taken on a greater significance as I have just watched my boys, now 12 and 14, relegate Puff to his cave.

This is a song that will frequently get a comment from a passerby if I an siting in public playing.

Doing my little bit for 'Harmonica Country'. High Noon best ever Western movie? Pics are totally unrelated and are of different parts of Oz.
