The ukulele has become the hot instrument in the last ten years, but many would laugh at notion of blues ukulele, yet...George Harrison, Edgar and Jonny Winters, Jimi Hendrix (Yes Hendrix played the uke) and many other players started on the uke. Don't forget Lil Rev, Madcat and others who feature the ukulele in their performance. Here is one of my favorite young talents, love this guy:

He makes it sound a bit like a steel guitar.

Superb! Very soulful voice and great ukelele playing. I could easily picture that being used in a movie or TV drama as part of the soundtrack.

Fantastic! Thanks for posting this. The voice and playing are terrific.

I play with a group that includes a Ukulele player and he adds a lot to our group. He said he would get right to work on this one. If you would like to share a tab that would be very helpful.

I don't think the tabs exist, this is Jasons' original tune. You can find him on youtube, he has many original songs.

I started a thread back in May when I was vacationing in Maui and came across a singer/uke-player named Damian Awai. He was stunningly good. He has a huge range of material, including some blues:

Very nice

The tres is cool to butI think of it more as a chording instrument. I would like to find a good quality tres to play son. the two brands I have tried were junk. I have also seen some crude ones made from regular guitars here in Miami where they rig the nut.

Last night I played with my duo partner (standard guitar/harmonica blues duo) and we invited a bass/ukulele player. He played the slow blues songs with his 5-string bass and the shuffles and boogies with his ukulele. Hoochie coochie man sounded insanely awesome!!

well the tres was originally made of codfish boxes. a cuban cigar box guitar. its an open C tuning mandoish in the middle and an octave and an octave. bet it would be a nice slider. another small guitar ive considered is the thai phin.

Not sure if anyone is working on this, but I could use some help with his lyrics. Second verse, this is what I have captured. Anyone have better ears than I do?

CHORUS
May the wind, carry her name,
May the wind, carry her name.
She traveled by sea, on home to me,
Let the wind, carry her name
Let the wind, carry her name.

……ground, black smoke, fills the air,
……. harbor, she found me standing there,
I’ll be the one love, with a picture in my hands,
Familiar face in a foreign land.

I will tab it as well and am happy to share when I get it finished if anyone has any interest.

Wow I thought that was great, I've heard people play Blues on the Uke before but it never sounded so convincing as on this guys song.
I have just signed up for a 6 week Ukulele beginners course at my local music shop starting in October cos I won an electric Flying V Uke in a open Mic talent comp in June, seeing these vids has really got me excited, my Guitar man also has the same Uke and he want's to include a couple of Uke tunes in the set we are putting together, we're gonna call ourselves The Ukes Of Hazard!
