This is one of the rarest amps I've seen. Amp nuts will want to take a look. Buy it now for under $8300:

Here's a handy link.

Wow! That is quite an amp. I'd love to hear it.

@tmf714 that bassman sounds like a nice amp.

I have had Larry Rogers retweed an amp and build me a cabinet, his work is the best and highly recommended.

8 large for a bassman? Whatever. I love stuff like that but at that price, I'd be afraid to take it out of my house.

The dual rectifier setup was designed to prevent the amp from distorting, which is what you'd normally want for a bass player (the amp was never originally designed as a guitar amp or harp amp in the first place.) This is one of the very earliest incarnations of the 4-10 Bassman setup, but not as desirable as the '59 Bassman is. If you want the amp to distort, you dan just remove one of the rectifier tubes.

Wow, 4 power tubes and one rectifier. Would not pulling it render 2 of the power tubes useless?

"Wow, 4 power tubes and one rectifier"

The 55-57 Bassman used 2 power tubes and 2 rectifier tubes.

Hmmm... A "Vintage 1955 Fender Bassman" with new cabinet, new speakers, new caps, new power cord and new tubes. Reminds me of George Washington's axe.

@MoonCat: I think you may have played on my '55 Bassman at HCH, and that is a dual rectifier amp. As BBQ Bob notes, it's much better for harp when you pull out one rectifier tube, so I always run it that way.

here is my two cents...
I SORELY regret selling my '54 dual rect bassman.
to my humble ears, It was an incredible amp. twin 6L6 and twin 5y3 rectifiers in that circuit. The later 55-57 versions had different circuits again (yet fender were constantly revising circuits) and so they had twin 5u4 rectifiers instead of the twin 5y3's.

Mark sold that one. And frankly, I think that particular amp had to have been THE cleanest. The back panel had never been off, it was crazy original.!
