I'm looking to see if any of you are from my area of Texas. I live in the Beaumont, TX area, which is close to Houston and my Mother-in-Law lives in Houston....so I'm there ofton.

Anyway, I play alone mostly, except for the few times I've played with some family members in jam type sessions, which have been just a blast. But, I'd really like to play with another harp player. Someone to compare notes with, compare sounds too. Basicly see how my playing is progressing....

If anyone is from this area and is interested in chatting or getting together, reply back to this thread. It would be nice to see who's out there and maybe get together...

Sonny Boy Terry usually has a one day clinic in Houston the first of August. he is from Houston. Jimi Lee is there sometimes. Don't know if that helps you in any way. I'm always leaving San Antonio that week end and have yet to make it. Good Luck!!!

Toddlgreene, one of the other moderators, is down in the Houston area, I think. He's been busy with other things lately though. I'll give him a nudge on FB.

edit: He says htownfess is the guy with the low down on the Houston scene.

Thanks nacoran. If either is intersted in getting in touch with me, I'd be happy to pass my info along.

I'm starting to realize I don't completely understand how all this works on the forum just yet..... who are moderators, how to just contact someone if you have their name/handle....

There are four moderators- Todd Parrott, Toddlgreene, Blocker and me (and of course Adam is the head honcho). Mostly we just try to make sure there is no spam around and help people navigate the place.

Not everyone shares their info in their profile. htownfess doesn't have info in his profile, so the best way to contact him is hope he sees this thread. The best way to find someone's info is usually to click on their name when you see it in a post. If you can't find someone you can Google their user name, followed by @modernbluesharmonica.com and it should give you a link to a thread they posted in.

If you add info to your profile, I suggest you scramble it a little. If you are 'JohnDoe@hotmail.com' write it as 'Hi, I'm John Doe, and I have a hotmail account with my name as the address'. This helps keep some nefarious search programs from adding your email to a spammer list.

They are a little out of date, but if you click on 'Thread Organizer' in my link it will take you to a thread where I have links to other threads with useful information.

Have fun. :)

Htownfess definitely has his finger on the pulse of the blues harp scene in Houston. Outstanding harp player and extemely knowledgeable about all things related to harp amps. Sonny Boy Terry is the best dang blues harp player in the city. He gigs constantly around town. He also gives harp lessons. He has a website under his name.

Dave Nevling and Tommy Dar Dar are two others that are ding dang good also and are both quite active with their bands. Tom McClendon runs the best blues club in town, The Big Easy, and he blows a heckuva harmonica. Great blues jams take place weekly at his place.
