BTW, the guy with the guitar is Dan Treanor. His band finished 3rd worldwide at the IBC in Memphis a few weeks ago. Bruce Collins is on drums. Nic Clark is playing the new small amp from Mission.

The amp sounds good. Looks like Nic was using an RE10? Was the amp lined out or miced into the PA?

Kingley, the amp was not mic'ed up or lined out. It wasn't an RE10 mic Nic was using. It looked more like the Shure mic that Cotton uses... can't think of the model.

Thanks for the info Rick. That's pretty impressive that it cut so well. The mic will probably be a Shure 585.

That's it, a Shure 585.

Kingley, I played a set later in the jam when things got a lot drunker, and I was wishing I had my Bassman. I was on stage with two Jeff Beck wannabes competing with each other and a guy playing loud electric fiddle who never stopped for a second. The drummer sounded like he was mad at his drums. I couldn't hear myself.

But... people came up later and said I sounded good. I'm not sure they could hear me either!

It is what it is; a 15 watt amp. I think in Nic's set it was right at it's limit for loud jam usability when it is unaided by the PA system. But remember, the amp will come with a nice-sounding line out. I'll test that next time.

The amp sounds good to me overall. I can't think of anything offhand from the clips you've posted that I'd change. Out of interest what is the tube compliment in it now? Rick do you know what settings Nic had it set in the clip above. That information might help some of them more technically minded members of the forum bounce some ideas round.

Nic could play through a Smokey Mini amp and make it sound good! ;-)

(No disrespect to the Mission amps, of course)

Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.

Dan, I agree. But Adam and others specifically requested that I put up videos of Nic Clark playing the amp. I think he shows what the amp is capable of.

Kingley, I'm glad you asked about tubes. In the clip the amp has 5751 preamp tube and EH 6V6 power tubes. I will be trying many different tube combinations over the next few days. We tried the JJ Tesla 6V6S tubes at the shop and I liked them a lot. I am leaning toward a JJ 5751 in the preamp socket. Bruce still likes the 12AY7. It is something the customer could specify.

With the tweaks Bruce made to the tone stack since the first video the sweet spot on the amp seems to be with Vol at 1 o'clock and Tone at about 11 o'clock. Nic had it set up a little brighter than that in this video.

The line out is installed and tested. I'll be trying it out in jams this weekend.

By the way... off topic: At Bruce's shop I played a version of his 32-20 amp with two 10s -- this one had the Lil Buddy speaker and an Eminence Legend alnico speaker. Damn! Nice tone, nice crunch.
