Is there a Lo-Z to Hi-Z impedance matching transformer that will allow you to plug in a 1/4" jack instead of an XLR connector? I have searched on google but can only find ones which take an XLR connector. I have a mic with a 1/4" jack. Attached to the ground terminal are a yellow, blue and bare copper wire and a red wire to the other terminal. I believe it to have been either wired incorrectly or it is a lo-z mic which needs a transformer. I would be grateful for any ideas!!

Oisin, your mic lead is wired unbalanced lo-z. Idealy, you should rewire to balanced lo-z, using either a stereo 1/4 jack, or a male XLR connector. The XLR connector will be easier to mate to impedance matching transformers (IMT). Music shops often have catalogues from Proel, Hosa etc (cable/ancilliary/connector suppliers) they might let you browse & find IMTs other than XLR to 1/4" jack configuration. ---------- www.myspace.com/markburness
