I want to start doing some home recording with Garage Band on my iMac.

Looking for a USB interface that works well with a vocal mic, high-Z bullet, as well as electric guitar input. The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (135€) looks pretty good, and gets positive reviews on Thomann. But I'm wondering if it's worth the price premium over the M-Audio Fast Track II (77€), which gets mixed reviews.

In addition to sound quality and reliability, ease-of-use is really important to me. I want something simple to install, without requiring complicated software or downloading additional drivers. I hate fiddling with computers!

Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with these products - or other ones in the same price range???

I don't need phantom power today, but I guess it's a nice feature to have in case I ever decide to move up to a ribbon mic.

Not certain I'm addressing your question but I use the Apogee Jam input for both guitar and bullet mic. But I'm using GarageBand on an iPad.
