i just heard that brendon power
will be performing here locally next month
i am a little confused
i heard he is playing with b3 legend jimmy smith
not sure that is possible cause jimmy has been dead for sometime...... perhaps brendan could chime in?

I saw Jimmy Smith a couple of years before he died. He was amazing. He was scheduled to return to the same venue to play again twice after that. Both times he cancelled, and soon after he passed.
There will never be another one like him.

Backstage I actually got to sit next to Kenny Burrell while he waited to join Jimmy Smith on stage at a Detroit/Montreaux Jazz Festival main stage gig. Jimmy was pretty old by then, but you wouldn't know it by his playing. I believe he had his son with him on drums.
Kenny was excited to gig with him again, even if it was a one shot for this fest.
