Always revisiting music from the 60's, early 70's, I'm re-listening to Alice Cooper's first album - Pretties for You - and come to find out that Alice played a fair amount of decent harmonica, too.
(btw, for another education in musical arranging, Alice's first 5 albums are another great study).
As well as that amazing soulful vocalist/guitarist short and diminutive rocker Steve Marriot.
slightly off topic and because he just passed, I'm also enjoying early Dave Brubeck (w/Joe Morello, Eugene Wright and Paul Desmond - late 50's) recording "Gone With the Wind". Really breezy listening, minimalist playing by all and great lines by Paul Desmond. When once asked by an interviewer "How do you get that mournful sound to your saxophone playing?", Paul answered "Because I wish I could play better".
