I am building a customer list, and I sent the following letter to those already on the list. If you did not get this letter, please contact me so you can take part in the program. Thanks

Subject: Rejected Harps, Customer List

Hello Friends. First of all, I would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays, whatever faith you are.

I hope everyone's HarveyHarps are performing satisfactorily. I have made numerous change in the years that I have been building harps, so the harps keep changing, and getting better. If I get one sent to me for adjustment, cleaning, or reed replacement, I upgrade them as best as possible to my new standards.

Every once in a while, a Harp that I work on does not meet my increasingly higher standards for one reason or the other, and I do not like to sell these as HarveyHarps. I think this happens to all people that optimize Harmonicas. Normally, I give these to local members of the harmonica club that are regular customers of mine or sometimes to random people. Tonight, I gave one of my early Marine Bands builds to the person who was installing my new front door, because he was going to learn how to play on a Bluesband.

I know that there at least a couple of you that I have given one of these to, when you were visiting New Orleans, and I know there is one of you who sent me one of the horrible vintage harps that I optimized and I was not pleased so I sent you a free Special 20 that was good. It turned out the you liked the MB OK after all. Its all relative.

I have decided that I am going to try to give these harps away to you, my customers. What I plan on doing is making a mailing list of all the people that have bought harmonicas from me, and when I get one that I do not want to put the HarveyHarp name on, then I will email the list, and the first person that says they want it will get it. I am probably going to want you to cover my postage, though, perhaps $5. Don't worry, I plan on spreading these gifts out, so if you get one, you probably won't get another for a while. These harps always play way better than stock, and often they are Special 20s, since I am not as good at spotting good vintages on SP20s as I am on MB and GM. Some Customizers sell these at reduced prices, but if it has HarveyHarp on it, I want it to be good. Sometimes a harp is not as loud as I want it to be, or it does not have the tone that I want it to have, or for some reason I can't get it as airtight as I want it. Etc. Whats interesting is that when I give one of these to someone that has not played one of my, or other good optimizers' harps, they think it is really good. And it is, compared to what they have been playing.

If you are receiving this email, then you are already on my list, and there is nothing more that you need to do, except enjoy your HarveyHarps. I am going to post this letter on Harp-l and Modern Blues Harmonica, and ask anyone I have fogotten to contact me, so I can put them on my list. So, when I complete this procedure, we will see if this works for me, or if it is problematic.

Thanks for you continued support.
