They are usually pin 3 hot - centre/tip wire from the 1/4" jack connects to pin 3 (numbered) in the XLR connector. Outer shielding goes to pin 1, jumper pin 1 & 2 together, if you have a mic cable with a shield & 2 conductor wires, run the unused wire to pin 2. I recommend using a dedicated instrument/guitar cable as "XLR microphone" cables, designed for Lo-Z PA style mics, inherently have much greater self capacitance.
Be sure that it is an "Astatic JT30/Hohner Bluesblaster", some JT30s sold under the "CAD" brand name were 2 pin hot. ---------- www.myspace.com/markburness
