I have recently had trouble getting drowned-out by guitarists at the local jams. My question is what type of cable do I need to plug the amp to the pa (ie: 1/4 to 1/4, 1/4 to xlr) ??and secondly what would be the general setting on the pa control knobs??( no sound man at the jams).
Many thanks!

Any signal cable will work. Try to keep it short. Cut the highs a little.

If you want to plug a amp head to the PA you should check out the Harphoud:

Works with any amp and you have a volume control at your end. Its very usefull.

CarlA, does your amp have a line out jack?

@Rick

Yes, both my hg2 and double trouble have line-outs, but I never tried them before, so was unsure about how to connect them to the PA, settings, etc

Use any 1/4 inch instrument cable to connect to the "Line" input in the mixer channel.

There may still be a problem with hearing yourself on stage if you are getting drowned out by loud guitars. You can try a little harp in your monitor but that can lead to feedback.

That is what big loud amps are for: Loud blues jams. But no matter what amp we use the guitars can always get louder. You might try asking the guitar guys to bring it down on your solos.

Thanks for the info Rick! I have a jam coming up and will try to connect to the PA. Man, those guitars can get loud!! In fact, at the last jam the audience members actually had their fingers plugging their ears, and the guitar players kept crankin' those amps up. The funniest part was here was my dumbass trying to simply turn up the volume on my amp and volume pot on the bullet thinking I would keep up with my 5 watt hg2-lol!!

Have you tried the Harphound? I'm not very technical, but does it simply save you from hassling the soundman to up the harp in the p.a. mix or is there more than that?

@GamblersHand I will make a review on youtube when I get the chance.

I use it for allot of things.

On stage its faster to set-up, you dont have stage noise or feedback to deal with. You also got a volume control on your end. Its very handy, you can keep up with guitar player who constantly raises volume and because sound guys are sometimes hard to work with.

It's great for recordings, straight into my iPhone, console or computer microphone port.

I can plug in headphones to practice at night. With a tight cup its very discrete.

Its very versatile, I got it because my amp didnt have a line-out and I got so used to it.
