Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and still here.

I started learning harmonica as a teenager from Tony Glover's "Blues Harp" book. I went some long stretches without playing, but have been more focused since retiring and having more time and more gigs.

Since '09 I have been several places. I joined this joint early on and lived in Jacksonville Arkansas then. 8 years later Jolene and I hit the road. April 2017 found us crisscrossing the USA with our travel trailer, seeing sights and playing wherever we could. During that time we were usually only stationary for maybe 2 weeks at a time and otherwise we were moving around a lot. We spent 2 months in California in that year and then ended up back in Arkansas for a time. After a disaster of sorts we found ourselves in Las Vegas for 6 weeks, then headed to Tulsa for almost a year. During that year we rebuilt our dream of travel, bought a fresh travel trailer, and on December 13, 2018 we headed back out full time on the road. Since then we have spent time near Lafayette, La., ran around the Florida Panhandle, had another sort of disaster in North Carolina, and then made our way to Vermont for the season last summer. October saw us heading for the Rio Grande Valley for a couple of weeks. After which we headed for the Texas Hill Country, where we stayed at two different towns through the winter. I then took a job in Marblehead Ohio, on Lake Erie. Within 3 weeks it was clear that the job was not going to work out so I took a new job- here in Vidalia Louisiana! After summer we plan to return to Fredericksburg Texas.

Over our travels we have gotten to play some great gigs in various far flung places. With the Crapola19 mess this has been inhibited but now that things are easing up some with restaurants we hope to get back busy here in Vidalia and across the river in Natchez MS for the next few months. Possibly a trip south to Teddy's Juke Joint and maybe even a stop in Clarksdale Ms. on our way back to Texas in the fall.

So that's where I'm from over all!

I'm a bedroom musician and mostly keep to myself musically, but I've been playing for almost a decade and am excited to meet others with the same hobby!

I'm a huge (no pun intended) fan of Big Walter Horton, but appreciate any player with exceptional tone (James Cotton, Rick Estrin, Little Walter, Sonny Boy, etc.).

Edited to actually introduce myself: I'm James and I live in Denver

I am currently in San Diego. Some of my "Harmonica Journey", was born/raised in Florida, introduced to harp by a friend 1974, after 2 years starting practicing 4 hrs. daily, met Charlie McCoy, Fingers Taylor, Peter "Madcat" Ruth, Tom Doucette (Allman Bros Live at Filmore W), etc. and played in Bluegrass Bands/Festivals in FL. Played on first two LP albums as studio player 1976. Moved to San Diego, played full-time there starting 1977 Country Hony-Tonk band and toured, also was getting recording sessions. '79 left public music to work in non-profit work many years, moved to Oregon, later had a Swing Dance, Jazz, Blues, Soul band for 10 yrs. '99-2009. Just been in Austin, TX 7 years, many gigs and recording sessions. Now in San Diego, ready to gig when things open again.

We went to Lake Erie for about a month in May and then landed in Vidalia La. until a week ago. We're now back near Fredericksburg Tx. Looking for a new place for next spring/summer/into fall.
