Howdy . . . .

I'm a 55-year-old harp newbie currently living in the middle of a soybean field south of KC. Spent many of my younger years in Montana - hence the name - and often still think of it as home (though I don't really miss that pesky 30-below nonsense)

Hi All
I am from Johannesburg South Africa, been a drummer and percussionists for most of my musical life, however, most bands realized I was a fair vocalist, and with drummers being a dime a dozen, and decent vocalists hard to come by, I have sort of been pulled in that direction, however what to do with my hands became an issue , so have decided to start learning Blues harmonica. Wish I had started sooner, really love the instrument Barry

Hey folks, just realised I have yet to contribute to this thread...

I'm a graphic designer based in Birmingham, UK and I have way too many harmonicas than my talent (or lack thereof) deserves.

I can't bend to save my life (though that's an unlikely scenario) and I hope that one day I will be brave enough to take a neck rack in to the office and play while I work. :)

I was born in Bronx, NY Lived in Colo.Springs, Co., And San Diego, CA. I now live in Vancouver, WA for the last 10 years, love in here.

I’m 67 in great shape, I rock climb, and been lifting weights since 16 years old and that’s how long I been playing harmonica (off and on), mostly off. But now been playing like gang busters, (retired), love playing. Have about 15 harmonicas. I am learning to play guitar so to understand music.

Slick was my nick name as a kid in the Bronx. Only my old friends know me as Slick.

Glad to be on board.

Born in the burbs...of Boston
Raised among the toxic fluorescent waters of Woburn Mass
Lived as a transient a fair amount as a young man, under a picnic table, various bushes and cars things like that.
Live in New Hampshire here in the states and in Quebec, Canada on the Gaspe Peninsula.
We use the expression that we keep a foot in each country and many times one foot is much happier than the other.
Found my 1st harmonica on the side of the road and thus became my instrument of choice.
Love any "toe tappin" music Boogie Blues, Swing, Dixie land, Arcadian etc .
An active outdoors person till a bite from a Tick changed my life big time. I put the vast amount of my time and energy into music these days.

Born and raised right outside of Chicago, but I have been living in the city for about 9 years now. I am extremely happy to finally find the instrument that speaks to my soul, and the fact that so much of its history is based in Chicago is just an added plus :) glad to meet and learn from all you beautiful peoples!!

Live in Auburn, Maine. Practiced dentistry for 37 years, now retired. Never played a musical instrument prior to retirement. Took harmonica program on a whim as part of a yoga program (David Harp). Current goal is to play well enough to play in a local blues jam.

Hello, to you all on the forum. I have been wailing on harp for many years, but only in periodic moments of spare time and motivation. I just started to take it seriously and have been taking one on one lessons from Carlos Del Junco in my home town of Port Hope, Ontario. I look forward to participating in all that is offered up for discussion here. Cheers.

Welcome to the forum everyone!

Jack9211, many years ago as a small kid I lived in Callus, Maine for a bit. If you crossed the road and went down this flight of stairs you were on the edge of a river and on the other side was Canada. I don't remember a ton about it. The two main(e) memories I have are family drives over to Canada to get pampers for my brother and trying to hit a fly that was in the house with a thrown stick. And that stick breaking the picture window... in black fly season!

Dude Indigo, my favorite line in any movie ever was in John Candy's 'Canadian Bacon', and it was about Toronto. I don't know if you've seen it, but the plot is the president of the U.S. starts a cold war with Canada to boost his ratings and some rednecks (Rhea Perlman, John Candy and others) decide to take the war into their own hands. Rhea Perlman gets captured and taken into custody for a free mental health evaluation in the capital. The rest of her compatriots confusedly think that means she is in Toronto and go to rescue her. When they see it on the horizon John Candy's line is, 'It's beautiful. It's like no other city I've ever seen. It's like Albany, only cleaner!' (I live just outside Albany). I had that as my start up sound for Windows for a while.

It had some other great scenes too. Dan Aykroyd plays a Canadian highway patrol officer. He pulls the truck the invaders are in over. They've written all sorts of hateful anti-Canadian slogans all over it and he makes them get their spray paint and rewrite all of it a second time, this time in French. :)
