One of our members had the excellent suggestion that we start a thread in which we simply tell each other where we're from.

This is a little tricky for me. I've got the town in which I was born and raised; the city in which I spent 22 years and came of age as a musician; and the town in which I currently (and happily) live.

So here goes:

I was born in New York City.

I was raised in Congers, NY, a small town about 25 miles north of NYC. I'm proud of those small-town roots.

I will always be a New York blues guy at heart because I lived in NYC from 1980 to 2002, learned my trade there, and still have many friends in the NYC blues community.

I live in--these days I'm officially "from"--Oxford, Mississippi, about 80 miles from Memphis.

Please tell us where you're from.

For the record: in the past year, Modern Blues Harmonica has had hits from 135 countries around the world. (I know this thanks to google analytics.) Recently I've had a surprising number of hits from Afghanistan. I know that the preponderance of MBH visitors come from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia; Germany and the Netherlands are next down the list.

Hi all. Four decades on Cape Breton Island.... which is located in the north atlantic on the northern end of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. The area is more famous for celtic music, however Blues is still popular.

My first post so I would like to say "Thanks Adam". Without your videos (YT and MBH) I would not be near the player I am today (still a long way to go yet but it's coming).

I was born in Arkansas. I lived in New Mexico for a few years and was in the military for a few years which took me all over. I also had a civilian job in the 1990s that took me all over the country (mostly the north-eastern seaboard) and I lived out my suitcase for a while. I'm currently living as a semi-recluse on 20 acres I own in northwest Arkansas. I'm happy here. I can turn my amp up and play my harp as loud as I want with no neighbors close enough to complain. The downside is that I don't have access to high-speed internet.

Born in Easton, PA. Lived there until I moved to the Poconos in PA. I then moved to Allentown, PA then back to the Poconos. hehe

Then I moved to Myrtle Beach in 2000. Good old South Carolina. I am a professional magician here in Myrtle Beach. 3 time Myrtle Beach's "Magician of the Year".

I started blues harp last May and loving every minute of it. It was a way to kill time in between sets at the Hard Rock Park. That was my main gig last year.

That is mostly it. If you got a questions I will try my best to answer.

PS. Thanks to Adam for having such a great place to discuss our passion.

Born in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Moved to Melbourne Victoria at age 11.

In my late 20s my family was transferred by my company back to Sydney for 3 years and then we were transferred to Brisbane Queensland.

These days we are retired and spend our time between our beach house at Peregian Beach near Noosa on The Sunshine Coast, Our house in Brisbane or travelling around Australia with our Caravan.

Took up playing the harp in Melbourne over 50 years ago but left it in the drawer for 50 years & only came back to harp playing 3 years ago.

Born in Seattle.

Raised in an area in central Washington state in the two small towns of Entiat (population 340) and Wenatchee (population 40,000).

Been living in the greater Seattle area since 1973 except for two short stints. Ten months in Spokane, Wa. and four months in Vancouver, Wa.

My current home is in a rural unincorporated area north of the little town of Snohomish, Wa. (which is a suburb of Seattle about 40 miles north of the big city). I commute every day to Seattle for work and come home to deer, racoons, rabbits, bald eagles, coyotes, and other wildlife sharing my property. It makes for a nice place to sit on the deck, smoke a cigar, drink bourbon, and play my harmonica for the wildlife. I am blessed with the serenity of quiet living while only an hour drive from some of the best music a person could enjoy. Like the song says "I'm a Lucky Man."

I was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised on Long Island. I spent most of my adult life in Brooklyn.

I am retired. For the last 14 years I live full time in an RV (motorhome). I do not have a permanent address and pay no rent. I travel about 6,000 miles a year, mostly throughout the American west. You can find me in the Arizona desert or south Florida in the winter, and in the mountains of Colorado or Utah during the summer.

I started playing Harmonica in September of 2005, and I think I'm pretty damn good at it.
