Today I was contemplating some ideas for a repaint/refinish of my JT30RH. Not sure about the color I want yet. The new element for it is an NOS Turner ceramic that used to go in the +2 mics. Should be pretty bitchin' once it's done. But I got to thinking ....

What if Astatic hadn't been bought out by CAD all those years ago? And what if Turner hadn't been bought out and relocated to Oklahoma and Minnesota? What if instead, the two had merged, and combined forces to continue manufacturing bullet, biscuit, sphere, and fin mics in the times of the advent of the Chicago blues harp coming into its own?

Well ....I thought of a trademark and stamptag for my mic to kind of formulate this "coulda, woulda, shoulda" theory. The mic is a JT30, the element is a +2 issue. Therefore, I dub thee ...

Ahhhh....the things that could've been....

Simple cut, copy, paste in Microsoft Paint. Found the two logos from a Google image search.

Actually, CAD, meaning Conneaut Audio Devices, IS actually Astatic. In the 80's, they changed their name to to CAd so they can enter the upper level of mic making, especially for professional applications like recording studios because prior to that, their main products were needles for phonograph cartridges and low end mics, largely for CB radios.
