Did you mean "brand" instead of "band'? The only "band" harps I know of are Marine Band. :)

For beginning playing, you cannot go wrong with Lee Oskars but for a beautiful sound there's nothing like a marine band. Tell me I'm wrong people?

You probably can't go wrong with a special 20 as a beginner either, and yes, marine bands have a beautiful classic tone. I've heard that you really can't go wrong with any Suzuki or Seydel, although I can't say I've tried either since my parents (I'm a high schooler so don't be like "you still live with your parents?!) would rather have me get my harmonica's at stores that online, and I haven't found any places that sell Suzuki's around these parts.

I can heartily recommend Suzuki Bluesmaster harmonicas for their airtightness, smoothly polished metal, and ease of bending. I switched from Lee Oskars and have tried Marine Bands, Hohner Blues harps, Special 20's, and Big Rivers. To me the quality of the Suzuki out of the box makes it stand out. It is said to have a brighter sound than the Marine Band, but I would rather have an instrument that has more responsiveness and playability. Bottom line is it really is personal preference. Try as many as you can afford to waste money on.

I started out on Lee Oskars which are great, big holes are ideal for beginners. But Hohner Blues harps have a great tone. Stay away from Hohner Big rivers if you have any facial hair as they act like an epilady facial hair remover. Its just trial and error really.

I like the big fat beginner harps, they are flat on one side so they don't roll of the desk.

MB's or SP20's are my preference - basically most harps by hohner. As far as tombo ones go i haven't really been impressed - not very good for blues playing IMHO...
